Will a preference for a remote job (due to individual circumstances) count against me when applying for a scholarship?
Will a preference for a remote job (due to individual circumstances) count against me when applying for a scholarship?

No, it won’t. However, you should be aware that if, after applying for several remote positions, you remain unsuccessful, you should be open to applying for local jobs as well. Not applying for local jobs and continuing to apply for remote jobs unsuccessfully could result in a loss of your scholarship.
